Tap troubleshooting

The screen is off or locked. Most phones need the screen on to read a tag; some also need it unlocked.
A thick, metal, or magnetic case is in the way. Metal blocks NFC almost completely; magnets can interfere with some cases.
NFC is switched off in Settings (Android only - see the toggle location above for your phone).
The phone is not held over the right spot. Use the antenna location above, and hold still for a full second or two.
If none of that helps, the QR code printed alongside every Tapping Tags product always works as a fallback - open the Camera app and point it at the code.
